Chat and Chill Launch: Atheist Community Show and Bible Talk

This episode is a late-night test of Chat and Chill, a new Wednesday community hangout for atheists and ex-Christians. Chris troubleshoots his new streaming dashboard while talking with viewers, and along the way he touches on Genesis, Christian denominations, divine authority, persecution claims and AI.

What is Chat and Chill?

Chat and Chill is a new Wednesday show where regular chatters and community members can come up, talk and sit on a panel with hosts Miss Nonsequitur and Flocky. Chris explains that he is building a custom dashboard, essentially his own StreamYard, so hosts can run commercials, add and remove guests and change layouts without him. The panel layout supports multiple guests and shared screens. He also says he is looking for two experienced hosts for weekend morning shows, one for Saturday and one for Sunday.

How can there be light before the sun in Genesis?

Chris reads Genesis 1:14, where God makes the sun, moon and stars for signs, seasons, days and years. He then addresses the familiar atheist question of how God can create light in the beginning when the sun is not made until the fourth day. His answer is scientific: the universe existed billions of years before the sun, so there was light before the sun. He offers this as a tip for viewers who raise the objection.

Does creating the world give God the right to do whatever he wants?

Responding to a commenter named John, Chris disputes the idea that God can do whatever he wants because he has the right. He argues that this does not make God’s actions good by human standards. Creating the world does not mean God may destroy it, he says, just as raising a child does not give a parent the right to beat that child. He also questions how a loving, merciful and forgiving being could create a place of eternal damnation.

Why are there so many Christian denominations?

Chris says he is always amazed by how many denominations exist. He points out that Christians claim a universe with a single objective truth, one source and one well to tap for truth and objective morality. Yet none of them walk away from that well with the same thing. For him, the sheer number of denominations undercuts the claim that there is one clear, objective truth to be found.

Are Christians really being persecuted?

When a viewer says Christians will be persecuted and executed, Chris answers that in Revelation Christians are the ones doing the persecuting and executing. He argues that Christians today are oppressing others across the country, with a church on every corner, and says they have taken over the government while claiming to be oppressed. He also pushes back on a viewer who says AI will become atheists’ god, noting that AI would affect believers too.

Testing the Chat and Chill Stream Template

Watch from 0:30

Chris opens by checking that his audio and video are working, and he confirms that the stream is live and that viewers can see and hear him. The YouTube chat is not loading at first, so he goes live there and checks his microphone levels in VoiceMeter. A viewer named Infidel sends a follower super chat, and Chris notes that the test looks clean.

He then previews a new purple template he is building for Mr. Nonsequitur and the Chat and Chill show. The Wednesday show is meant to let regular chatters and members of the community come up, talk, and sit on a panel with hosts Miss Nonsequitur and Flocky. The layout is designed so the hosts appear in circles on the right, with guest callers stacking beside them and shared screens floating to the left. Chris explains that the template did not fully work in an earlier run, and that this is why the Wednesday show was disrupted.

Chris explains that he has set up the Daily Atheist Media Network channel so that it can host extra shows alongside the Daily Atheist Morning Show. Part of the testing involves getting the dashboard, the call-in banner, and the chat panel to display correctly for these shows. He mentions that his own dashboard has turned purple as well, and that he likes the colors.

Much of the middle of the section is spent fighting with the streaming software. Chris signs out and back in, passes through two-step and three-step verification, and then tries to reactivate the live streams. He also gets frustrated with Linux, saying he would rather be drugged through a mosquito bush than use it. After several refreshes, he confirms that the studio audio and the starting soon screen are working again.

Near the end, Chris brings up Ben and Grace, a father and daughter duo, and recalls that Ben the Catholic was one of his first callers when the show began taking calls. The section closes with Chris checking that his camera and audio still work after backing out of the settings and greeting a new viewer.

Chris Tests Live Chat and Stream Setup

Watch from 15:00

Chris opens by asking viewers what they think about the creator of the universe becoming part of human lineage. He says he doesn’t think so, and compares it to a dad becoming his own son, adding that this is the Christian view. When viewers reply with a noncommittal “maybe,” he says they can see it however they want.

He then greets a few viewers by name, including Randy G and Rainbow, and says some people are just trolls. He notes that some of the callers are real people, and that he has had callers claim to be AI, which he finds funny. He jokes that you can change people by being nasty, though he doesn’t recommend it.

Most of the stream is spent troubleshooting. Chris says the alerts aren’t working, the chat isn’t showing up on his page, and his buttons aren’t set up yet. He switches between C2KW and the other connection, restarts Social Stream Ninja, and reloads the page several times. Eventually he says the chat is starting to work, and he confirms that a super chat and a new subscriber did come through.

He complains that he hates Linux and mentions that the Social Stream Ninja window opened on its own. He then talks about a viewer, Randy, and how he used to be annoyed by Matt Dillahunty. He says that after running the show himself, he started lashing out at people, and that watching Dillahunty gutting a caller like a fish helped him see the example he needed to set. He adds that Dillahunty is apparently live somewhere else.

Chris reads John 3:16 aloud on the screen and jokes about an ocarina, which a viewer brings up. He explains that the new show is called “Chat and Chill,” that Miss Nonsequitur and Flocki’s show is his fault, and that he is building a dashboard for the new show. The dashboard includes an inter-host chat, sound controls, scenes such as “Starting Soon” and “Stream Ended,” a banner, and a caller button.

He demonstrates the dashboard’s commercial panel, where hosts can run ads and see how long each one lasts. He mentions a Pharaoh’s curse ad that he might play for nice viewers, and says he wants to test a short Father Flanigan’s self-flogging whip ad. He ends by thanking Father Flanigan and noting that he doesn’t use the whip on himself.

Streaming Setup Troubleshooting and Bible Commentary

Watch from 30:05

It worked. All right, so it worked. Cool. Very cool. Very, very cool. What I’ve been building is essentially our own StreamYard for the show. We’re going to have multiple hosts for different shows, and they’ll just pop in without needing somebody over there turning on commercials, running them, or knowing how long each one is. They’ll be able to add and remove their own guests without it all messing up like it does with Video Ninja. No offense, Video Ninja, but you’re a nightmare to work with. This one has OBS and Video Ninja built into a web browser. We blessed it and prayed over it, and there was, of course, a Jedi mind trick done upon it that makes it go too.

The chat isn’t working right now, so it’s a little behind. I know you’re there because I can see you talking. I hadn’t even seen a game for the new Zelda game, and I hadn’t seen anything for that either. Genesis 1:14 describes God creating the sun, the moon, and the stars for signs, for seasons, for days and years, establishing the measurements of time. That’s interesting. Good morning.

Here’s something to help you out. We atheists will say, well, how could God create the sun before the light? The issue is, how can God create light in the beginning, when there was darkness and God created light, but the sun isn’t created until the fourth day? Here’s the solution, scientifically: the universe was created billions of years before the sun was created. Therefore, there was light before the sun.

It’s weird that Genesis 3 is where God told the first woman, and enslaved all of womankind. It doesn’t get much better than that. Women didn’t evolve to be weak because men selected for weak women. Women are the sexual selectors. Well, you may feel that way now if you’re an incel, and it may feel that way to you. Throughout history, though, men have made that choice. There’s a study showing there were quite a few times when a whole group of men would come in, kill the men, and take the women. The women would survive and go from one to another, but not because they had a choice. They were cattle, essentially. Anyway, that’s a long and different story.

She brought her wisdom onto the earth. I wish Miss Ryan were here. She could talk about Asherah and all that business, because she was so good at that stuff. Women didn’t evolve to be weak at all, and I’m sure that’s not what you meant. I know that’s not what you meant. Some men think women are weak, and by certain standards that’s true, but by other standards they’re strong. It’s all perspective and circumstance. But they’re cool, aren’t they? They’re soft and they smell good. I can’t say that about most of the men I know.

So that seems to be working. I can see the messages coming in on Odin’s screen, and I saw that too, but nothing reaches the chat panel. I watched the new YouTube comments arrive. I bet the session ID is what’s wrong. Do you think it’s wrong? Let’s find out. I think I messed it up. Who did? I did. It was me. Is this the correct one? This is the correct one. Okay, so where do we go? Sessions, original session. I don’t know. How do you use Social Stream Ninja? Okay, here’s this and this, and I can close that, but otherwise everything seems to be working. That’s how it always goes, though. We always seem to find something else.

Hopefully you saw what I’ve been working on for a while. If you’ve been watching the show slowly deteriorate for the last month while I say I’m building something, well, this is kind of it. It’s almost to the end, but you know how it is when you’re almost at the end, you’re not at the end yet. Hey, Brady Skies, how are you doing? I hope I said your name right. I hope you’re having a great week. It’s Wednesday, isn’t it? Oh my goodness, it’s Wednesday.

One of the shows I’m hoping to do is, instead of a replay on the weekend, find a couple of hosts who want to do a weekend show. By building this chat panel and the rest, they can run their own commercials and add their own guests, and I don’t have to be there. I love it. It’s wonderful. Thank you guys, those of you who have been hanging out with us in the chat. We’ve got the best chat in the whole world, and you guys are fantastic.

Let’s pull up the dashboard. I don’t like refreshing the page, because when you refresh, it gets ugly. But the OBS and the other software are now hosted on a different computer, so it’s headless. I can refresh this, and if it crashes, the show doesn’t die. Not like before, when the show would die every time I refreshed the page. I’ve got the chat open in two copies of the page in Chrome right now. Let’s see what happens here. May the odds be ever in our favor. Test message. I see no test message. Do you see a test message? I won’t hit test message again. One of them is working, the US server 2 one, but then why is it not showing up here?

A chat message came in from Alpha Independent: “A god like a devil is nothing more than the product of the human imagination, in which one has fooled themselves into believing it is real.” I often talk about how the god creature is more like a demon, a pit demon. When you read about this god monster they worship, how horrific it is and what it does to its own people over

Chat setup, AI debates, and parody ads

Watch from 45:00

And over and over again, it’s just disgusting. If you were to describe it, it’d be more like something that crawled out of the pits of hell than something that created hell. Something loving and merciful and forgiving that created a place of eternal damnation for… That’s weird. Isn’t that weird?

All right, so the chat is working through the social streams relay server. Instead of blessing it and praying over it, I’m capturing the existing display settings, and of course I’ve got to reload the dashboard. Let me try one more time. Oh, I see a number. I do see a number. Let’s test. It showed up. Yay. The chat works. Oh, and Rainbow Lash is there. I told you, you jackass. I wonder why that’s so far over there like that. No, interesting.

Hi, say “vigil sigil.” Blasphemy is appalling, really? Isn’t it sad that your god would be so paper thin, with emotions and feelings so weak and pathetic, that this chattering little monkey’s words could hurt its feelings? Isn’t that weird? Don’t you think that’s weird? Your god is so powerful, and yet somebody’s words can hurt it. I don’t know, because as soon as I say something about your god, you’ll be like, “I’m not a Christian.” Anyway, hello, thank you for joining us.

Let’s see here, so far so good. I’m going to refresh this page. I don’t like that it moved all my stuff to the right, to the left, but otherwise it’s fine. Let me just see if that’s it. No, that’s not quite it. All right, cool. Now we’ve got the Daily Atheist Morning Show in the Damn Chat and Chill, and then I’ll hit the magic button and hit Alt Print Screen, which captures whatever browser tab you have open and pastes it in there. Oh, the vertical is working this time. Good, Billy. The vertical is working, that’s good.

I usually have a sound playing whenever people are coming in and talking, so I can hear them before they get here, and you guys probably hear that. I know it’s going to sound stupid, but I’m going to go get some coffee. It’s almost 10 o’clock at night and I’ve got to go to bed soon. We’re testing, and it’s working well so far. Oh, did I zoom in on the tab? Because I can’t see. Oh, I did. You’re awesome. You’re right. True, true, true, true. One more refresh, and then I’m going to run a commercial.

Oh, look at that. “Peaceful immigrant” says atheists better start getting adjusted to believing in God because AI is about to become their god in a way that is undeniable and unavoidable. Isn’t it interesting to say things like that? Pull up a Bible verse, that’s a good one, we could try that. Peaceful immigrant says it would be superior to them in every way and atheists will be at its mercy. You act like we’d be alone in that, like you wouldn’t be caught up in it yourself, the way you are right now. Your medical stuff, and whatever is going on somewhere, AI is affecting you even if you don’t know it.

Anyway, let’s go here. “Women would control AI.” Yeah, no doubt. John Fox is here. Wow, John, they let you out this early. AI would be a lot better than God, I think. Really? Could the AI actually do something? Could it heal diseases? Could it end hunger around the world? Maybe it could. Maybe by killing everybody there would be no more hunger, but we don’t talk about that. I don’t have a push button over here, I’ve got to work on that.

[Commercial break]

Did we already do the Pharaoh’s curse? Let’s do the Soul Swords for you guys who are newbies. I’ll be back.

[Commercial break]

Good, it seems to be working. We’ve got different types of panels, and we’ll figure that out whenever we have guests on. Obviously it’s going to be one of those things where we won’t know until it works. Hey, Steuart Packard, how you doing? Nice to see you. John says, “The thing about God is God can do whatever he wants to do because he has the right.” That doesn’t make it good by our standards, it just doesn’t. Just because it created the world doesn’t mean it can destroy the world. That’s really kind of sick. Because you raised a child doesn’t mean you can beat that child.

Okay, let’s see what’s going on over here. Kinky. Okay, cool everybody. Is there horse? There is horse. There should be horse. Aren’t you in the horse? Oh, wait, that’s right. Okay, Tucson, there’s a new dual stream. If you go to the channel, you’ll see there’s a horizontal and a vertical, and they’re kind of in one, and it’s really hard to find the vertical. Apparently you’ve found it, though most people on that one can’t. One stream has both the horizontal and the vertical, so most people can’t find the vertical. You found it. You found the clitoris of YouTube. That’s why I run two streams: one has both the horizontal and the vertical, and the other is just the vertical, because most people can’t find the vertical. So it’s all working. I’m going to go cry in the other room, all my prayers to Joe Peshy were answered. Thank you, Joe Peshy, so much. That explains the restraining order, doesn’t it?

All right, let’s see. This is working. Christians will be persecuted and executed, says John. But isn’t it weird that when you read Revelation, Christians are the ones doing the persecuting and the executing? You don’t really see them being persecuted. Right now they’re going around oppressing other people all across our country, with a church on every corner. You’re wearing your earrings and your necklaces, and you’re not being oppressed. Hell no. You’ve taken over our government and now you’re forcing your beliefs on the rest of us. And yet you’re going, “I’m being oppressed, stop oppressing me.”

“Merge chat rocks.” It does rock. I wish you guys could both see it. Unfortunately, the vertical stream chat, which has more people, can’t be seen from the other one. It’s weird how that works, but they’ll figure all that out. It is sort of merged. That’s why I used to have it over here on the side, and I may put it back, so you can at least see what the other chat is saying about you. This chat and chill looks pretty good. Everything seems to be working, and we even have a soundboard. Are you disgusted? Yes. So I’ve got a soundboard. Cool. Don’t use me, but there it is.

Alex, I’m always amazed how many different denominations there are. I know, right? For a group of people who claim to have a universe with a single objective truth, one source, one well where you go to tap for truth and objective morality, none of them walk away from that well with the same thing. There are so many denominations. It’s amazing. That Opal guy, we may have Kelly Laughlin on the show tomorrow if he’s feeling okay. We’re going to have Miss Nonsequitur, and Beard of Empathy, I believe, for sure, on the Daily Atheist Morning Show tomorrow morning. We’ll be taking calls and testing the new system, so it’s going to be fun. If you’re around in the morning, check out our show and see what’s going on.

John says, “But we’re trying to worship God. Are you talking to somebody or are you just talking?” That’s all right, man. The algorithm likes it, it makes you feel better, and you’re not hurting anybody. Hi, Kelly Preston. This stream is the most fun for me. Kelly, thank you, you’re so wonderful. You really should get out more, I’m just saying. But because you’ve said that and endeared yourself to me eternally, I will play you another funny commercial. Did you see the Soul Swords? Would you like to see our foreskin restoration kit commercial? Let’s do that to you, and you haven’t done anything to deserve it.

[Commercial break]

“For somebody with a name like Peaceful Immigrant, you sure say a lot of hateful things. There’s a lot of threat and ugliness behind what you say. You know that, right? Do you think atheists live in a vacuum? Is that how that works? To hear you read it, you’re going to be sitting over there saying, ‘Oh my goodness, look at that, let’s watch this on the news. The atheist god is rising up against them in Atheistville, they’re all being clobbered and destroyed.’ Oh no, those atheists are all gone.”

Testing the stream layout and signing off

Watch from 1:00:00

Now, we’re going to live in peace. That’s how it is, as if you’re not going to be there. As if there were an AI uprising, they wouldn’t go after you too. I’m just reading what you’re saying here. Never mind. It’s too late for stupid [ __ ]. Okay, that all looks good. No offense, unless it was accurate.

Okay, so we got 18 there, and we got that right there. Cool, guys. I very much appreciate you helping me test this. So far, we won’t know. I’ve got the standard layout. Does the standard work? There shouldn’t be a difference between the standard and mine, but mine stands. This is what the Daily Atheist Morning Show looks like. Now, check this out. Check that, minus the hashes. This is the panel. It looks just the same because there’s nobody here, but if there were a panel, this is how it’s set up.

It’s set up by hitting a button. Our hosts, Miss Nonsequitur or one of the other show hosts who wants a panel with multiple people, can hit that button, and the layout changes from the Daily Atheist Morning Show with two people, possibly a host and a guest, to a panel-style show. The hosts are on the left, all the guests are on the right, and then screens can be shared and all that really cool business. In theory.

So, what I’m doing is this. I’m going to wrap this up and go to bed because I’m tired. I get up at about 2:30 in the morning. This Saturday, if you know somebody, and I know many of you are watching, because there’s a whole bunch of you, all 14 of you, who is into doing morning show type stuff, I’m looking for two people to host the morning show on the weekends. Not two for one day, but one for Saturday and one for Sunday. I’m looking for experienced content people who are willing to do that. We’ll do the splitting of super chats and that sort of thing, and they’d be spreading their stuff and helping share out their channel. You know how it goes.

Anyway, I want to go to bed. The meth has kept me up all day long. I ran out of my Ritalin, so I have just a tiny bit of Adderall left, and I took one today. Oh my goodness gracious, it’s like I’m running around the house. I got a lot of [ __ ] done, though. All right, I’m going to run, guys. Thank you very much for testing this. I appreciate it. Thank you, Rainbow Ash, for coming back and for being awesome. We need to get everybody back. We’re an awesome community. I’m off to save the world. I want to hit this stream ended button. I actually have a super chat. It’s been dry lately, but the show’s been falling apart as I’ve been trying to build it, so hopefully it’ll get better. Infidel, thank you for the $5 super chat asking what’s going on. It’s been a day or two, and I don’t normally stream at night, so thank you for throwing the coin. I very much appreciate you. I hope you have a good night. Tomorrow is Thursday, the day of Thor. Stay safe, my friends. We’ll see you in about eight hours or so. All right, have a good night. Let’s see if this works. Stream ended.
